Richard Crabtree was born in 1967 in Birmingham. He attended Bournville College of Art before working for many years in the graphic design and fine art industry.

Growing success as an artist then enabled him to commit to painting full time and concentrate on teaching and working on his many commissions.

He works mainly in oil on canvas or pastel on board and watercolour. Although capable of capturing any subject his particular field of interest is portraiture of people and animals, wildlife and landscape.
